He frowned a little, watching her, but made no move to force her to speak. Instead, he followed quietly behind her, picking up his shirt and pulling it on, the sleeve hiding his tattoo.

"Aru?"
Aru stepped out of the room, rubbing his eye as he looked towards them, a hand gripping the bottom of his shirt. He looked a little ruffled, and his face was wet. "Welcome back," he said quietly, voice groggy and thick.
Zay stepped in, and in seeing Aru, he frowned a little. "What's the matter kiddo?" Aru shook his head, and Zay understood. "Bad dreams?"
The boy nodded, then ran over Avery, hugging her tightly. "I-I woke up and didn't see you guys, and at first I was scared," he started, pulling back a little and looking at Zay. "I thought it happened again, but then I remember that no matter what, you would always come back and that when you're gone all I have to do is wait."
He knelt down. "I'm sorry we weren't here when you woke."
Aru shook his head. "No, it's okay." He gave a meager smile. "I'm not bothered by it."

Stilling at Aru's tone, she opens her mout to say something, gasping softly when hugged tightly before she wraps her arms around him, fingers running through his hair, trying to calm him "Oh, Aru.. We wouldn't ever leave you." she whispers, voice cracking, eyes wide

Aru's feathers ruffled a little and he nodded, relaxing a bit as he buried his face in her shirt. "I know," he murmured.
Zay gave a soft smile and stood, though the apology still lingered in his gaze.

"I... Yes..." Avery murmurs quietly, sighing "Just don't wander off, it's a big camp and I can't look for you.. Okay?" she asks, biting her lip "Let's get to bed, it's going to be a long day tomorrow."

Aru nodded. "Okay." He wrapped his arms around her neck in another hug, sleep starting to return again.
Zay took a breath, then went to the fire. "I'll make sure the fire is going before I come in." Pulling some wood from the pile, he tossed some in, bringing up a small flame.

Aru pulled back and nodded, taking her hand as he rubbed his eyes with the other, guiding her towards the bedroom. Zay continued with the fire, crouched and staring at it for a long time, hand reaching up and touching his shoulder for a brief moment before he stood again with a sigh.
