"By being as straight forward and easy as I can,
"Then I'll leave that task to you." Galen murmurs, voice short before he walks out, taking his sword with him
"We've all murmured at some point in our life. No one's hands are clean any longer, and haven't been for years."
Slumping against Zaire more when she hears Galen leave, her head falls forward, hair falling from it's braid as the tie holding it together snaps, face hidden beneath the dark strands "You didn't have to do that for me, Lady Zaire." Kiyori whispers, voice cracking, barely loud enough for her to her as her resolve to keep up a facade does "Why didn't you let him kill me? He's right... Avery's like this because I didn't have the heart to spare her from my orders, I was trying to save my own skin while attempting to honor our friendship, at least as much as i could in that situation.. If I had just left that day, turned back..." words failing her, she presses a hand to her face, tears slipping out between her fingers to hit the ground

After hearing the conversation Zay's expression shadows as he steps back, eyes wide for a moment as he catches the last of it before they slack, though they grow distant. Something tightens in his chest and a hand goes to it, clutching it, and as their conversation comes to an end, his instincts kicks in to protect him and he immediately takes off through the tents and the clearing of the woods as he reins in his emotions, going to the clearing he used for his training. The only indication he was near the commander's tent was a small patch of frost on the grass.
"You didn't have to do that for me, Lady Zaire. Why didn't you let him kill me? He's right... Avery's like this because I didn't have the heart to spare her from my orders, I was trying to save my own skin while attempting to honor our friendship, at least as much as i could in that situation.. If I had just left that day, turned back..."
"I cannot let another die when they have a means to right some of the wrongs in this world," she murmurs, turning to look at her. "How do you know who I truly am?"

"I cannot let another die when they have a means to right some of the wrongs in this world. How do you know who I truly am?"
Lowering her hand from her face, Kiyori's gaze is full of tears as she slowly turns her head towards her voice. Swallowing thickly, she inhales shakily before her irises flash weakly, biting back a cry as she sheds the glamour that she's held for years, light eyes turning dark, black braid turning into a sandy blonde bun, skin darkening a shade, thin dress turning into a cream gown with small ruffles, diamond earrings in her ears, tattoos around her neck and arms gone as she pulls away to kneel before her, head bowed "I could never forget your face, Lady Zaire." Kiyori whispers quietly, unmoving, eyes closing "Your family helped mine many times, I would be ashamed had I forgotten who you were."

"I could never forget your face, Lady Zaire. Your family helped mine many times, I would be ashamed had I forgotten who your were."
Watching the change Zaire's eyes widen before they soften, brows drawn together. "Isadele," she murmurs, memories coming back immediately. "I thought... I thought you perished in the King's raid..."

"Isadele. I thought... I thought you perished in the King's raid..."
Pain flashing across her face, Kiyori slowly opens her eyes, cloudy irises trained on the ground, still sightless "Isadele Savoy did perish in that attack, my queen." she states quietly, grief lacing her gaze "She died years ago, when she lost everything. She's merely a memory now, and I'm not sure she can be resurrected, even with magyk."
Stepping out of the tent to go ready his horse for a trip for supplies, Galen stills when he spots something from the corner of his eye, frowning as he takes in the frost before he looks around "Rogue! Where are you!" he calls, cupping his hands around his mouth

"Isadele Savoy did perish in that attack, my queen. She died years ago, when she lost everything. She's merely a memory now, and I'm not sure she can be resurrected, even with magyk."
Zaire's expression turns to one of worry before understanding, and her lips purse. "I'm sorry I hadn't noticed soon, Isa... If only--"
"Rogue! Where are you!"
Her mouth clamps shit sharply as she frowns, not understanding what Galen had said until a moment later, and her face pales and falls, voice a whisper and nearly breaking. "No...X'Zayvean."
"Rogue! Where are you!"
Zay hears Galen in the distance, teeth gritting as his face holds both anger and hurt and broken hope, and he drives his fist into a tree as his eyes darkened a shade, though they turned bright a moment later. Frost spreads from the impact, and he lowers himself down against the tree, fist and forehead against it as he fights to rein himself in, fist striking again.
Aru hears someone by the tent, having woke after he felt Zay's warmth leave, and he steps out, and spotting another small patch of frost, and panic crosses his gaze as he looks towards the words. "Dad?" he croaks, taking off into a run.

"It was in my best interest that no one noticed." Kiyori murmurs quietly, gaze flashing again as she tries to retain her glamour, hair starting to revert before she gasps when pain shoots through her, concentration snapping as her breaths shallow
"Rogue! Where are you!"
"No...X'Zayvean."
Eyes closing, she stands and makes her way to the bed, collapsing onto her back, took days to make the glamour all those years ago and her magyk is nearly depleted as it is, body drained "Leave me, Lady Zaire." she whispers, gasping "I'll be alright. And Galen is too distracted right now to pay attention to me, so maybe I'll be left alone for once."
"Rogue!" Galen tries again, walking through the camp "Don't make me say it again!"

"Leave me, Lady Zaire. I'll be alright. And Galen is too distracted right now to pay attention to me, so maybe I'll be left alone for once."
Zaire looks at her, conflicted, before she purses her lips again and starts towards the tent flap. "I'm sorry, Isa. Rest-- I promise no one will hurt you now." She turns and darts out, jerking her hood up as she tells the guard, "Not a soul enters this tent, do you understand? Not even the commander himself."
"Rogue!" Galen tries again, walking through the camp "Don't make me say it again!"
She trots forward, seeing Galen, then turns and catches Aru from the corner of her eye, then spots another patch of frost. "Galen, this way!" She takes off running,
"Dad?" Aru calls, weaving through the trees before he comes to a clearing, spotting Zay and his bloodied hand, going to run forward, though with a sweep of a hand he scrambles back, falling as he's met with a short wall of icicles.
"Stay back, Aru," Zay murmurs sharply, eyes closed and hand extended out, blood dripping.
"W-What's going on?" the boy murmurs, scrambling to his feet. "What's wrong?"
Zay shakes his head, forehead against the tree as his muscles quiver. "Stay back."

"Wouldn't think of it." Kiyori whispers quietly, listening to her leave before her eyes close, trying to relax
"Galen, this way!"
Head snapping around, Galen's eyes find Zaire before he takes off after her "What is going on?"

"What is going on?"
"X'zayvean overheard when he shouldn't have," Zaire answers as she runs, fear finding it's way into her voice. "I pray to the gods that it isn't happening again."
]"Stay back, Aru,"
"W-What's going on? What's wrong?"
"Stay back."
The cleric comes to a stop near Aru, seeing the ice before her eyes find Zay, and her already pale face goes ghost white at his appearance. "X'zayean, calm down."
A muscle quivers again, his fist balling as it drops, pressing into the ground. "Don't you think I'm trying?" he growls quietly. She starts forward, starting when the ice moves again. "I said stay away."
"If this is about Avery--"
His head raises and snaps towards her, gaze both livid and pained as it held a warning. "Don't. Not with him here."
"She's going to be okay."
He twists on the balls of his feet, a knee going to the ground as his hand sweeps again, anger sparking. "I said don't, Cleric!"
"Dad, please--" Aru goes to step forward, but Zaire's hand finds his shoulder and pulls him back. "Don't go near him, child," she murmurs.
The boy twists from her grasp, eyes watering. "He needs someone! It's just like last time!"

"X'zayvean overheard when he shouldn't have. I pray to the gods that it isn't happening again."
"Honestly." Galen growls in irritation, running faster "He was supposed to find out the right way!" skidding to a stop when he spots Zay and Aru, his hand goes to his sword, watching to determine which way it'll go
"Stay back, Aru,"
"W-What's going on? What's wrong?"

"Do as she says, boy." Galen hisses, gaze stony as he takes a step towards Zay, stepping in front of Aru and Zaire, sword drawn, eyes on the man "I suggest you pull yourself together, rogue. Malyn's is going to wake up, whether you have faith in that or not. Perhaps not today, but she will, she won't be comatose forever. She's a fighter, or haven't you realized?" he mutters, taking another step forward

Zay watches as Galen steps close, standing as he faces him instead of Zaire, gaze sharp. "I understand that," he murmurs, though as he reaches the word that his voice slips and his jaw ticks in determination. "I don't doubt her."
"Galen," Zaire warns, pulling Aru back again. "Sheath your weapon."
Something twitches near Zay's brow, and his gaze darkens as the anger grows again. "But despite that there's no guarantee. She said it herself."
"Zay, she will recover, she has to," Zaire pushes, growing uncomfortable with his change in gaze. "And you know it."
He turns and looks at her again, and she flinches. "Will she? Or will she lose to the damned shadows like everyone else before her?"
"Don't you dare give up," she hisses, and for a moment coherence and realization crosses Zay's face, and for a split moment he appears normal again. "Whatever you hear, it's not true. It's all a lie. I promise you what they're telling you is a lie."
Aru's voice is quiet as he studies Zay with wide gold eyes. "Don't fall, Dad."

"I understand that. I don't doubt her."
"Then prove it. Get rid of the ice." Galen murmurs, deathly still, eyes on him as he takes another step closer

Jaw ticking, he stills, eyes sharpening before they close "If you truly think she will lose, then give into the darkness if that's what you really want." he murmurs, gaze chilled as he watches him "But think of what you'll be losing if you do. Your son. Malyns, when she wakes up."

"Then prove it. Get rid of the ice. If you truly think she will lose, then give into the darkness if that's what you really want. But think of what you'll be losing if you do. Your son. Malyns, when she wakes up."
Zay's gaze travels to the ground as he listens, and slowly his muscles relax and the ice shatters to a fine dust, almost like snow, and Zaire relaxes just a little with a small sigh. "With you there, she'll pull through," she murmurs. "And when she wakes, she'll be more than happy to see both you and Aru at her side."
He looks at Aru, and the boy smiles a little through the tears of fear and uncertainty, and he starts to move forward towards him as Zay holds out a hand when there's a girl's voice.
"He doesn't have to fall far to fall under the influence." Zay's eyes widen and his face immediately turns ashen, frost spreading near his hand. "You should have thought through things more carefully, mother."
"No!" Zaire starts forward as a girl, resembling both her and Zay, stands by him, a hand touching his where he held it out for Aru, her gaze on Zaire. Though she doesn't take a step when Zay's face twists in anger and ice flies towards Galen and Aru. She jumps in front of the boy, her hood slipping off and showing her long black hair and vivid blue eyes as she lands, pushing him back, as her hands come up, and ice rises from the ground and stops the projectiles flying towards Galen and the spear that flew towards Aru. Leaping around that she returns the attack on Zay, who side steps in a blur and attacks again, the girl vanishing into fog, and as she raises some to capture Zay, he swipes his hand out again with a sharp yell, a wall of ice flying speedily at her, though again she counters it by splitting it. However, as she lands on the other side where Zay once stood, he's gone.
Her eyes widen and water as her shoulders slump, mouth open in a silent call out for him, hands shaking.

"No!"
Lowering his sword some when Zay seems to surrender, Galen takes a step forward, blade swinging up in a arc in an effort to block when projectiles fly towards him. Gritting his teeth, he sheathes the sword after Zay disappears and walks towards Zaire, gathering her up in his arms before he does the same with Aru, arms around their waists as he leads them away
