As the wall comes up Aru panics, darting forward and moves to dash by Zaire. "Dad, no!"
She quickly reaches out and grabs him, and the boy struggles as the tears that had been welling finally spill over. He squirms and let's out a broken sound before he goes limp, a hand pressing against her arm as his feathers lower to the flattest they've been.
Zaire starts when she feels Galen's hands, and slowly she follows him silently. Aru twists and drops from her arms, stumbling into stride. Aside from quiet sobs he's silent, and after a moment he swallows hard. "He'll come back. He always does."

"I'm sure he will son." Galen murmurs, quiet as he leads them back to the camp "But until then, you have to be strong for Malyn's."

"I'm sure he will son." Galen murmurs, quiet as he leads them back to the camp "But until then, you have to be strong for Malyn's."
Aru walks between them, though unsteady, and he asks, "Will momma wake up?" his voice is quiet and low, and part of him didn't entirely understand what was going on, as most of it happened all too fast for him to keep up with. Between Kiyoria, the wall, and this-- he isn't sure if he knows which is up.

Kiyori starts to finally relax before she jerks at the sound of a voice reaching her ears. Sitting up quickly, her face wavers before she inhales shakily, raising her hand. Murmurs slipping past her lips, her irises flash slowly, paper forming in front of her, pen automatically writing her thoughts down for her Mage, I do apologize, but something has come up. Don't try and look for me, I'm not sure if it would be of any use. Goodbye. ~Kiyori Aristark. Once that's done, she closes her eyes for a moment before continuing, casting another spell to try and replace her glamour. Pulling it back on bit by bit she cries out as pain shoots through her the longer she chants. Trembling, she stumbles back a step when she looked as she used to then leans against the wall. Voice cracking as she mutters a few more words to open a portal to Esper, she jerks, unable to keep quiet until the sound fades as she steps through, note falling to the floor
"Will momma wake up?"
"I know she will." Galen murmurs quietly, tone growing faint for a moment, gaze growing distant before he clears his throat "She's a fighter. Now. Let's get you two back to your tents, so you can rest." he states, reaching the edge of camp before stiffening when Kiyori's scream rings through the air

"I know she will. She's a fighter. Now. Let's get you two back to your tents, so you can rest."
Aru shakes his head slowly. "I don't think I can rest." At the sound of the scream he starts, making himself appear smaller as her listens, though Zaire beside of him tenses as her head snaps up, already troubled gaze growing shadowed before she hurries ahead to her tent, jerking the tent flap open. Her throat tightens as there's no sign of Kiyori, though her eyes find the note, but she makes no move to look at it.

"I don't think I can rest."
"Run to my tent, boy, and stay there." Galen hisses before taking off, bursts into the tent Kiy was is, eyes narrowing when he doesn't see her "Where did she go, mage?"

"Run to my tent, boy, and stay there."
Aru opens his mouth to protest, though as they run off he looks towards the tent Avery is in. Half of him wants to return to his mother's side, but the other half is too torn to see her. So, painfully, he turns and starts towards the commander's tent, stepping inside and looks around before moving to the front corner and sits against the post. He draws his knees up and wraps his arms around them, feathers pressed low.
"Where did she go, mage?"
Zaire slowly walks over to the letter of the cot, picking it up and reads over it. She says nothing a long moment, half numb as she takes the letter to the fire and burns it. "Gone. It's no point in trying to track her. She's long gone by now." Her voice trembled just a little before it evens out, eyes watching the flame eat the paper. "You've nothing to worry about from her."

"What?! You were supposed to b-" Galen starts, voice terse as he steps towards her, stilling when her voice trembles. Jaw ticking, it clenches once before he sighs, reaching out to grasp her arm gently "I'm more worried about you and that boy at the moment, to be honest."

She blinks at the hand grasping her arm and turns to look at it, then at Galen, face revealed as she forgot to put her hood back up once again. Her eyes holds a dim light to them, nearly lifeless, though her expression retains neutral. "I'll be fine. This will pass." Despite her will to hide the truth her voice still wavers slightly, and she looks away again and into the fire. "I'm concerned for the boy. First his mother and now his father. For being so young he's had to suffer so much."

"I'm sure that they'll return." Galen murmurs soundly, gently leading her over to her cot to sit "But at the moment, I need you to pull yourself together. That boy may need you, not me."

She follows slowly, sitting, icy gaze forward. "I..." She pauses, lips pursing a moment before she sighs and closes her eyes. "I'm not the best candidate for children," she admits quietly, a ghost of the past flickering across her gaze. "But I'm trying."

"Neither am I. But I cannot watch the boy, and run this camp. So I'm asking you to watch him." Galen murmurs, looking at her before he stiffens when a door of light appears behind her, eyes widening, hand going to his sword as someone starts to come through
Appearing back in Zaire's tent she sways, barely registering her and Galen's presences before she falls forward, body giving out on her

Without looking her hand lands on his that holds his sword, staying his blade as she stands and moves forward to Kiyori, gaze worried. However, quietly and carefully she pulls her up from the ground, using a little magyk to life her onto a cot. "You should have stayed," she says quietly, taking note that Galen is in the room. Then, to Galen, she says, "Send the boy to me. I'll see that he's taken care of."

"Send the boy to me. I'll see that he's taken care of."
"Very well, mage." Galen mutters, shoulders straightening and arm dropping from his sword before he spins on his heel to walk out, heading for his tent. Reaching it, he walks to the table, sinking into one of the chairs with a sigh, glancing towards Aru "The mage is going to take care of you for now. She's requested you come to her, and best not to keep her waiting."
"You should have stayed,"
"Forgive me, my queen." Kiy whispers quietly after Galen leaves, trying to sit up "But I cannot just stop my old life, stop where I am to revert to who I once was, Lady Zaire. And I..." voice breaking, she continues, tone strangled, face twisting in pain as she fights to keep her glamour up, gasping as it starts to shatter piece by piece, working its way down, hair turning first "I have to find your son... I have to find X'Zayvean, for what I've done to him... And his son, I may have orphaned him.."

"Forgive me, my queen.
At her attempt to sit up, she presses a hand gently against her, forcing her back down. "No, lay down," she says quietly as to not interrupt her.
"But I cannot just stop my old life, stop where I am to revert to who I once was, Lady Zaire. And I... I have to find your son... I have to find X'Zayvean, for what I've done to him... And his son, I may have orphaned him.."
"Let your glamour go, Isa. It's draining you, and you need to recover. If anyone asks, I'll tell them this is the disguise I gave you to protect you from outsiders," she says quietly, laying the blankets over her. "As for my son, it was only a matter of time before he fell again." Her throat tightens slightly, and she settles onto the cot next to Isa. "I just didn't expect the ghost of his sister to appear." She looks at the young woman, thinking a moment. "If you truly want to find X'zayvean, then wait until you've recovered. No sooner. If not for yourself, then do it for me." She looks forward again, taking a breath. "Though I worry more about the boy. He's lost too much."
"The mage is going to take care of you for now. She's requested you come to her, and best not to keep her waiting."
Aru looks up at him, unmoving for a moment before he takes a shaky breath and stands slowly with a nod. "Yes, sir," he says quietly, eyes red but dry as he leaves, feet carrying him silently to the cleric's tent, though he pauses as he hears voices inside.
"You should have stayed,"
"Forgive me, my queen. But I cannot just stop my old life, stop where I am to revert to who I once was, Lady Zaire. And I... I have to find your son... I have to find X'Zayvean, for what I've done to him... And his son, I may have orphaned him.."

Aru's eyes widen and his throat tightens as he stares at the tent flap before he slowly steps in, pausing at the front as he meets Zaire's gaze, wary, hurt, and hopeful all at once. "M-my father," he starts quietly, hesitant as he nearly chokes on the words. "H-he's really my father? H-he didn't just adopt me?"
Zaire's eyes snap to him and widen just a little, surprised, though her expression softens and she takes a deep breath. "Yes, child. He is your blood. However, he may not know it himself."
There's a long pause as his feathers raise just a little. "A-and if you're his mother, that means..."
"Yes, I'm your grandmother," she gives a soft laugh, her smile meager, "though I may not look my age."
A quiet sob of renewed hope passes his lips, eyes watering again when he thought he couldn't cry anymore. "Which means I'm not alone. I still have a family."
"Yes, little one." Without another word, Aru runs over and quickly hugs Zaire, having been desperate to find something to grab, to hold onto, and the woman gathers him in her arms and into her lap, holding him close.
