"It just.." Kiyori starts, trying to talk in between the laughs "It wasn't an answer I was expecting, that's all." she murmurs, small smile crossing her face as her laughter dies

"Oh, something along the lines of you could never forget my face because of what I did, or because of who I am." Kiy murmurs, smiling "It's nice to not get treated like a trash or a princess for once. Between your grandmother, and the commander, I was afraid I'd never catch a break."

Aru looks down and ruffles his feathers. "I'm sure that..." He pauses a moment. "My grandmother means well." His face twists at the word. "It's so different calling someone grandmother."

"I know she does, child." Kiy murmurs, smile softening "But I'm only a princess by name, I have no throne, or castle." at his second statement, her gaze warms "She's a lovely woman, I'm sure she'll grow on you like she did me."

"If I heal as fast as I'm hoping, I'm going to go search for your father. I owe it to your grandmother. If not, and you wind up going in my stead, I'm going to try and help Lady Zaire revive Avery." Kiy murmurs quietly, sighing "That is, if the commander doesn't forbid it."

"Watch what you say, boy!" Kiy hisses quietly, hand snaking out to grasp his as fear flickers across her face "The commander is just to his men, and he know's what he's doing. Do you hear me? Do not question him."

Any other time, Aru would've recoiled, but after hearing the fear in her voice and feeling her hands on his, he knows he has nothing to fear. "You've felt it too, haven't you?" he asks quietly, gently and unaccusing. No, he knows she has her reason for fearing the commander.
