"I shouldn't stay much longer. Do you have another bandage?"
At his words, a small hidden look passes her face before she turns away, heading to the left "Of course. I said you could have what you needed to get back on your feet." she murmurs, voice quiet as she pulls out the roll, back to him "I'll have to get more leaves for the poultice though."

"Of course. I said you could have you needed to get back on your feet. I'll have to get more leaves for the poultice though."
He nodded and listened as she walked away, hand gripping his side as the other was braced against the wall. Once she was out of the room, he walked back to the table and sat down, lifting his shirt up to reveal the bandage, moving it to look at the wound.
Zay hissed slightly, taking in the red skin. He didn't think it could've been because of Avery-- her medical skills were the best he'd seen in a while. He scrambled to go through his mememories, guaging what could have happened. Infection from his run? He did take a rough tumble numerous of times. Or was it one of them?
"Curses," he swore, looking away with a strained expression, it all clicking into place.

Walking outside, Avery walks to the forest, searching around the trunks of trees for a few moments until she finds the plant she's looking for, plucks a few leaves after smelling them. Curling her fingers around them, she returns, stopping at the door when she hears a voice from inside
"Curses,"
Frowning, she hesitates a moment then walks in once her mind is made up "Is something wrong?" She murmurs, eyes automatically flicking to the wound, stills at the sight of it

"Is something wrong?"
"Damned bandits," he grumbled, leaning back. "Next time I see them..." He caught himself, frowning at how much he's spoke, and he bristled slightly. After a moment, his muscles relaxed, though a fist remained balled.
Zay's jaw worked as he looked at the ground. He would be stuck there a little longer, long enough that he was going to lose his trail on one member of the legion.

"Damned bandits. Next time I see them..."
"Next time I see them I hope you either run faster or fight harder so you don't end up in the shape you are again. And, I think you do too. That way you don't have to rely on anymore strangers for help. I can tell you don't take well to it." Avery murmurs calmly, walking in, sits across from him, laying the leaves down on the table, brown eyes flicking to his "Let me see how bad it is."

Zay snorted sharply, gaze glaring at the ground. No, he didn't like it. It forced him to mingle with someone, and that was the last thing he wanted. He wanted everyone to just stay away.
"Let me see how bad it is."
Silently he slipped off his shirt and removed the old bandage, a light sweat having broken out on his brow, though he rubbed away before it could cause suspicion.

Stilling at the snort, her eyes close a moment before she leans forward, fingers lightly brushing the skin around the wound, frowning when she gets a closer look. Gaze flicking up to his face, she pauses before she presses the back of her hand to his forehead, curses lowly, stands, walks over to a wood box, rummages around in it

When she touched his forehead, he shied away, taking a slow breath of air. The wound was beginning to make him uncomfortable, feverish, and he didn't like the sensations he was getting. His jaw worked silently as he willed his mind to remain clear, though the strain was something he couldn't keep up with. His eyes flicked toward Avery as she searched the box, studying.

Finding a medium bowl and tea kettle, she carries both of them to the table then walks back outside, finds more leaves from two different plants while also grabbing willow bark, lays them in the bowl once she returns, footsteps quick, eyes flicking to him "Do you want to drink tea or for me to put it directly on the wound. Or you can chew them. These will all reduce the fever and possibly the infection."

Zay gains a confused look for a moment. "I guess I'll chew them," he murmurs, though he isn't entirely sure of himself.

"I guess I'll chew them,"
"Okay." Avery murmurs, continuing on, hands the bowl to him "Just chew until the leaves are a pulp. It's only Thyme and Meadowsweet, it won't hurt you. I'll have to cut the Willow bark up into smaller pieces so you can chew on it. I can't promise it will taste the best, but it will help." she murmurs, rattling things off her head, trying to keep herself busy so the disappointment that he's going to leave remains subsided

As she spoke, Zay took the bowl and looked at its contents, sniffing it. He placed it on the table and pulled out a pinch and started to chew on it. If it had any sort of taste, he didn't show it as his expression remained impassive, though his gaze grew slightly distant as he stared into space. After a few minutes his gaze snapped towards the door. "How do you feel about animals?" he murmured quietly, remembering Enzo.

"How do you feel about animals?"
Sitting down with a knife, she begins to strip the bark and chop it into smaller pieces, movements careful but rushed, barely acknowledging his question "What do you mean?" she murmurs, setting the blade down, eyes flicking to him as she lifts the bandages "Sit down so I can wrap that." she orders softly, already chewing on the leaves from the plant she went for first

"What do you mean?"
"I have a companion outside, if he hadn't left already," he murmured. Remembering he was still holding the stone from earlier, he stuffed it into his pocket and opened the door and walked back, steps shuffled and careful.
"Sit down so I can wrap that."
He sat, though as he did he let out a low whistle, and through the door came the hawk, though the bird was silent instead of responding to Zay's call. He landed on the back of Zay's chair, ruffling his feathers with a low warble before falling still as it trained an eyes on Avery.

"I have a companion outside, if he hadn't left already,"
"It can come in, as long as it doesn't make a mess." Avery murmurs, taking the leaves out of her mouth, small half smile as she waits "Companions are nice."
Eyes flicking to the wound when he sits, she starts pressing the pulp to his wound lightly, holding it there before she starts wrapping it, glancing at the hawk once, then back to work "Did you chew at least two of each leaf?"
