"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you, or my dad. I couldn't save her either.. You have to keep protecting my kid. Please."
He moves his head to try to see Cas as he sees his jaw move as he spoke, but he struggles to catch what was said until Caspian looks up, and atthat moment, Forest is able to quickly deduce at least part of what was said. "I failed to protect you and your father," he starts, shaking his head slightly. Though, the word kid finally sinks in, and his eyes widen as he realizes that it wasn't a trick of memory when he saw Cenric's expression in the forest. "I....Caspian, I don't know." His voice cracks again as Caspian's underlying request clicks. "I don't want him to experience that pain," he says softly. "I don't to fail when it's his life at stake."

Roala's face grows paler the longer she lays there, her breath hitching.
Cenric raises his head upon hearing her, before he moves over to her swiftly. Shakily a hand reached out to touch her forehead, eyes fearful from the lack of color in her face.

"I failed to protect you and your father,"
"You didn't!" Caspian whispers quickly, eyes wide as he looks at him, face wet "You did the last thing my father asked of you, you saved my life.." he murmurs, eyes closing at his response about Cenric, thinking hard
"I....Caspian, I don't know. I don't want him to experience that pain. I don't to fail when it's his life at stake."
"Then why not me." he asks, barely audible, gaze locking with his "That way, whichever way he and the girl swing, I know they're in good hands. I'd like to have my friend back, even if it's only through a bond."

"Then why not me. That way, whichever way he and the girl swing, I know they're in good hands. I'd like to have my friend back, even if it's only through a bond."
Forest opens his mouth to speak before it closes again, and it opens, though smaller, and closes once more before he looks down, stance almost resembling a wolf at a crossroads. He doesn't speak for a long moment as he weighs the options, the pros the cons, and his eyes close as a hand reaches up and rubs his face. His jaw ticks a moment later with resolve, his hand lowering, and he meets Cas's gaze, hesitant a moment longer. "I don't want anyone to suffer," he murmurs lowly, "nor do I want anyone thinking any different of me." He pauses again, pursing his lips. "Bonding is more complicated than you think, more...taxing. But," something flickers across his face, "if you wish for me to watch over your son, I will, only if he agrees to it. He has to, or the bond won't work." He looks down at his hands. "If he says no, and if you're willing, then I will with you." His green gaze raises again. "But I cannot guarantee that anything will be the same afterwards." He offers a small, thin smile. "But bond or no bond, I won't leave you behind again."

Cenric jerked his hand back quickly at the sensation of her temperature. Quickly he stood and moved towards the door, ready to go find someone. He paused though, not sure if he should leave her.

"Then it's settled." Caspian murmurs, sighing softly as he stands and walks over, reaching a hand out to help him up "I guess we'll have to ask my son about that. And Forest?" he starts, hesitating "Let's keep that fact between us, okay? I've never been his father, I haven't been there for him. I don't see a need to drop a bomb on him like that."

"It's safe for now," he says as he takes his hand and stands. "But if he accepts the bond, I can't guarantee that secret will be safe."

Cenric squeezed his eyes shut before stepped outside the building, hoping to see them. Not being able to he once again panics. "Some one.. " he said to himself

"If that happens, I'll pass over that bridge when I come to it. But for now, let's get back to my apprentice." Cas murmurs, pulling Forest up with ease

He straightens and nods in thanks for the help before he looks towards the shack, then starts to the sled he abandoned and picked up the rope and axe. He looks calm, but his mind was racing as he battles back the past and tries to accept it. Forest looks over to make sure he doesn't leave Cas behind, then starts pulling the sled to the shack, seeing Cenric outside.
"Some one.. "
He barely catches the words on his lips and he frowns, continuing over. "What's wrong?"

What's wrong?"
Cenric looks up with wide eyes as they walked over. His feet carried him a step closer as he met his gaze with a pleading one. "She felt like ice."

"What's wrong?"
"She felt like ice."
Following Forest, Caspian stiffens at his son's words before he pushes into his home, eyes searching for Roala "Apprentice!"

"She felt like ice."
"Apprentice!"
Forest frowns deeply, stepping after Caspian, leaving the sled and axe outside the door as he steps in, though this time without his cloak (he had left it in the woods). "Caspian, wait," he says quietly, moving to Ro's side and kneels by her, pressing the back of his hand against her forehead. Feeling the chill and how clammy her skin is, he turns and points towards his under-the-floor pantry. "Little one, inside of a box under there is some jerky that's high in iron. Grab it for me, please." Then, to Caspian as he points to the spare room he uses for storage. "Inside there should be more furs. Bring them here. I've got to try to wake her, but she needs to get warm. There's no large concern-- she's only lost quite a bit of blood. She should be fine."

Eyes trailing after his finger he gave a nod, as he quickly went to the place addressed. Lifting the door he rummaged around until he found it.
There's no large concern-- she's only lost quite a bit of blood. She should be fine."
Once he had returned to forests side he frowned at his words. The question of how bounced around his mind, and he glanced over at the other man.

Stilling at his friends words, Caspian pauses, studying him for a moment before he nods shortly, heading to the spare room and grabbing all the furs he can find
