Thessa listens with interest, studying him. "It sounds like a wonderful place to be," she says, though she laughs a heart beat later, "but I doubt I could leave here."

Catching the expression change, both Vras and Thessa look at him, and Thessa's expression grows worried. "Are you all right, Rin?" she asks quietly.

"I'm okay, masane.." Rin whispers quietly, voice strained before he takes another bite of his food, trying not to worry them

Pursing her lips, Thessa nods, though Vras doesn't appear as convinced. "Don't hesitate to let us know. You know pushing too hard brings you back down, medo."

"If I may." Jakys starts, hesitating "What happened?"

"It was many moons ago," Thessa starts after a moment of silence. "There was another attack on our tribe, though it wasn't bandits..."
"Legion," Vras murmurs, lowering his plate. "It was shortly after the Sherai had bonded with her Ma'heege, and it was they who warned us of the impending danger. But Sherai..." he purses his lips. "She fell ill, almost delirious then, and we couldn't move her. She believed the late sheran was here along with her mother, and though she intended to move us to higher ground, we were never able to make it."
"He was healed, at least to the best that the mage could have done, but there are days when it grows worse," Thessa finishes quietly.

Thessa nods solemnly, her gaze down as Vras looks to the boy. "What is it?" he says gently, setting his plate on the ground in front of him having eaten his fill.

"No no, you did nothing wrong, Ajitan," she replies, attempting a small smile. "You're soon to become the Sheran, so it's only appropriate to learn about the people who will follow you.
"Do you think you could help me up?"
"Of course," Vras responds, moving over to him and offers his arm as he sits on a knee, his other hand ready to catch him if need be. "You know I will."
