Zay's eyes widened and he stared, slack jawed, as he tried to understand the words that just came out. Aru on the other hand understood and laughed, poking Zay's cheek before wiggling out of his arms and to the floor, feathers ruffling in excitement. "I do!" he called.
Dumbfounded, Zay stared a moment longer before slowly shaking his head, a small smile finding his lips. "You think you love me?"

Stifling a smile at Aru's laugh, she crosses her arms over her chest, nods in response to Aru "How's that fire coming?"
"You think you love me?"
Hearing the smile in his voice, her cheeks turn red slightly before she turns away with a shrug, flustered "Well, yes. Think. I might. We haven't known each other but a day, you know. Plus, my options are limited now that I'm flawed in others eyes." she murmurs, half teasing

"How's that fire coming?"
"Good," Aru answered, poking at the flames to get it going.
"Well, yes. Think. I might. We haven't known each other but a day, you know. Plus, my options are limited now that I'm flawed in others eyes."
"Flawed? No," Zay shook his head, settling into his newly thawed demeanor with ease, "You're not flawed by any means."

"Well, I'm glad you think so." she murmurs, biting her lip, nervous, not shutting her emotions off like she usually does "My commander may not be as lenient."

"If he can't see that you took a fall for the mission he gave you," Zay murmured, taking her hand and giving it a gentle squeeze, "then the man is blinder than any blind man I have ever met."

"No need to," Zay shook his head. "It's the truth."
Aru watched them, smiling at the expression on Zay's face and was happy to see him showing emotion again.

Zay studied her, frowning slightly. Aru caught something, and he started making dinner himself, hesitating. "Let's just enjoy today while we can," he said lightly. "Tomorrow will come later, but for now, we need to relax."

Zay's gaze softened as she searched, taking her hand and guiding her to a chair, pulling it out for her. "You're awfully perceptive today, Aru."
The boy smiled. "I learned a lot today."

Zay gave her hand a squeeze, then moved to help Aru with dinner, pulling out the meat he cured and started cutting it, chopping up some veggies.

Once seated, Avery listens to the sound of soft thumps of blade against wood, small scrunch of her nose as the boys work, trying to determine what they're cutting using her smell

X'zayvean and Aru worked in silence, though both seemed to communicate at the same time. Zay fixed a stir-fry using what he had, pulling out the bread baked a day ago, using it as a biscuit type deal, placing the stir fry on the bread and made sandwiches out of it.
