He gave a swift shake of his head, expression serious. "I want to fight. I want to do something to change all of this. No one should have to live in fear of evil kings or assassins who come and hurt even their friends." He met her gaze evenly. "Zay wants the world to change, too. He wants people to see the wrong, even if he himself has done wrong more than once."

He shook his head again. "Even if you think you are, you're not ruined. Even if dad thinks he is, he's not either." He paused a moment. "I wouldn't let it ruin me." However, he looked down, feathers flattening. "Though, now that I think about it, I couldn't do it because I'm different..." His feathers twitched. "I'd be sent elsewhere..."

Eyes widening, she reaches out and grasps his face, gaze locking with his "You think I'd let that happen to you?" she whispers, eyes studying "Never."
